Each year some of the mighty working
tugboats (and a few decidedly smaller
ones!) that ply the Hudson River and
Canal System travel to Waterford for the
annual Tugboat Roundup, the only event
of its kind, which highlights not only the
history of these unique working vessels
but also the present and future of maritime
cargo transportation. The 19th annual
Waterford Tugboat Roundup (www.
tugboatroundup.com) hosted by the Town
of Waterford, will be September 7 through
9 at the waterfront.
The Atlantic Hunter II,
2017’s Tug of the Year, is
a perennial fixture at the
Waterford docks during the
Roundup. It’s fun to see
the smaller tugs perform in
various contests during the
weekend, and owners such
as Bill and Linda Grudinskas
are always fun and engaging
to meet. Be sure to stop by
and say hello while at the
Roundup!
