The New York Harbor School provides a college and career
preparatory education built upon New York City’s maritime
experience that instills in students the ethics of environmental
stewardship and the skills associated with careers on the water.
The ferry to Governors Island operates between the
Battery Maritime Building (BMB) in Lower Manhattan
and Soissons Dock on Governors Island.
The trip is approximately 8 minutes in duration.

The Billion Oyster Project (BOP) is an ecosystem restoration and
education project aimed at restoring one billion live oysters to New York
Harbor and engaging hundreds of thousands of school children through
restoration based STEM education programs.Born at the New York
Harbor School, the BOP relies on Harbor School staff and students to
implement many of its programs, specifically around Reef Construction.
