eginning in May the Corning GlassBarge

will be anchored near the site of the

original Corning factory, called the Flint

Glass Company on Brooklyn’s Waterfront

explaining the original adventure of the

Corning Glass Company’s move from

Brooklyn, NY to what would become

Corning’s home for the next 150 years

in Corning, NY.

The event that made this singular move happen

was the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825. By

1868, when this move was made, the Erie Canal

had become a true sensation supported by all who

understood what it meant.
