It is hard to imagine industry in
Brooklyn, NY and the problems
that existed in the mid 1850s
not only manufacturing glass
but also receiving the basic
ingredients that were needed to
develop the glass manufacturing
process. Roads were muddy or
dusty depending on weather, or,

distant locations.
